Different regions of Brazil have their own carnival traditions. For the outside world, carnival in Brazil usually means one city only, Rio de Janeiro. But let’s go to Salvador de Bahia and enjoy carnival in the streets, completely different from Rio. And by the way, the big parades in Rio only start Sunday night and in Salvador carnival is in full swing from Friday on.
The “Bloco As Muquiranas” consists solely of males. This year they were dressed as geishas. They like cross-dressing in Salvador.
