2011 Carnival Parades in Rio – Sunday 6 March

For those who wanted to follow the parades of the samba schools of Rio de Janeiro and admire the Musas do Carnaval, the beauties of Rio, dancing the samba, should have been present in the Sambôdromo of Sapucaí on Sunday night, as it started at 21.00 hrs.

Six schools passed through Sapucaí the first night. Another six samba schools will show their plots on the evening of Monday, 7 March (photos tomorrow).

The schools of the Special Group had between 65 and 82 minutes to please the 50 jurors, who must judged the performance in regard of all requirements, taking or giving extra points according to what the school shows on the Avenue.

Samba school São Clemente opened the parade, followed by Imperatriz Leopoldinense, Portela, Unidos da Tijuca, Vila Isabel and Mangueira.

On Monday União da Ilha, Salgueiro, Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel, Grande Rio, Porto da Pedra and Beija-Flor parade. (photos of the second dia in Rio tomorrow).
