2011 Carnival Parades in Rio – Monday 7 March

Monday night was the second day of the carnival parades in Rio. Musas do Carnaval, the ultimate show of Rio’s beauties, dancing the samba, representing the samba schools União da Ilha, Salgueiro, Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel, Grande Rio, Porto da Pedra and Beija-Flor.

As usual the Sambôdromo of Sapucaí showed an incredible spectacle.

However one of the most famous characters of the carnival in Rio is, since years on end, not a queen, not even a female, but a street sweeper (photo right), who dances the samba with a perfection as no one else, while sweeping the Avenue in between the parades of the samba schools.
The public loves him.

So let’s have a look at what Rio’s muses had on offer Monday 7 March.
